Post Operative Instructions
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
WOUND CARE:
- Keep the bandages over your eyes for 24 hours; you may then remove the white and yellow gauze.
- DO NOT REMOVE THE TAPES!
- Do not apply any ointments over the incisions.
- You may use saline eye drops as needed.
ACTIVITY:
- Avoid strenuous activity for at least one week.
- Do not bend over or strain.
- Keep your head elevated for several days.
DIET:
- Start with liquids, and then advance to a regular diet as tolerated.
MEDICATIONS:
- Take your pain medication as needed.
- You may switch to Tylenol at any time.
- Avoid aspirin containing products.
- If you were given a prescription for antibiotics, take them as directed.
PROBLEMS:
- If you have any problems, such as:
- Excessive bleeding.
- Excessive pain or swelling.
- Fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Change in you vision.
