If you cannot get it done before surgery, you are not even going to try after surgery.

Losing excess weight prior to surgery not only improves you chance for a good result, it also significantly lowers your risk of complications such as bleeding, infection, wound healing problems and blood clots.

Weight loss is a lot more about diet than it is about exercise; so the excuse that you cannot exercise because of your back, large breasts, knee, foot, etc. just doesn’t cut it. Calculate you own body mass index (BMI) by multiplying your weight in pounds by 703 and dividing that product by the square of your height in inches. For example, someone who is 5’6” and weights 162 lbs has a BMI of (703 x 162 / 66 x 66)= 26.1.

A BMI of 20-25 is normal, 25.1-30 is over weight, 30.1-35 is obese, 35.1-40 is morbidly obese and over 40 is extremely obese.

Your best chance for success depends is when you are in the best shape for surgery, which includes eliminating excess weight before your procedure.
