Restylane® Columbus OH
Restylane® is one of the most familiar of injectable products on the market and one of the first to stand the test of time unlike some of the first hyaluronic acid products that have gone by the wayside. At the time of this writing, the Restylane® family includes Restylane® L, Restylane® Lyft, Restylane® Silk, Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne.

Restylane® L is the original Restylane® product with xylocaine local anesthetic added to it allowing for reduced pain with the injection procedure. It works effectively to reduce or eliminate wrinkles, folds and unwanted facial skin lines. It can also be used to create fuller lips and enhance other areas of the face where more volume is desired. Not all areas of the face where Restylane® is used are approved by the FDA. Non-approved areas cannot be promoted by the parent company Galderma and injection into those areas is not considered 'illegal' but is viewed as an 'off-label' use of the product.
Once known as Perlane®, Restylane® Lyft contains larger hyaluronic acid molecules than Restylane® L and, therefore, provides more support to treat deeper folds such as on the nasolabial folds or for volumizing the areas such as the cheekbones. Because of its greater viscosity or thickness of the gel, it requires a slightly larger needle for injection but also tends to last longer. The name change curiously closely followed the introduction of Voluma® to the marketplace by Galderma's Comeptitor Allergan.
Galderma was the first to obtain FDA for an injectable product intended to reduce wrinkles ("smokers lines") around the mouth as well as for volume enhancement of the lips. Restylane® Silk was developed specifically for use for lines and enrichment around the mouth and is rarely used in other parts of the face.
In the ever-growing marketplace of facial injectables, Galderma has not added two more fillers to the Restylane® family of products. The first of those is Restylane® Refyne, which is FDA approved for injecting into the mid-dermis of the skin on the face for treating moderate to deep wrinkles such as the parentheses on either side of the nose and lips known as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It is the most flexible of the Restylane® products, however, it also has the lowest G-prime and, therefore, the least support making it more desirable for use in dynamic lines of the face.
The other of the newest products available in the Restylane® family is Restylane® Defyne, which may be referred to as the 'middle of the road' of the Restylane® gels when you look at its position on a graph with flexibility on the Y-axis and support or G-prime on the x-axis. It is more flexible than the Silk, L or Lyft products but not has malleable as Refyne. It also has a higher G-prime than Refyne, slightly less than Sikl but not as much as L or Lyft.
